FAREWELL DEAR FRIENDS :(

Hey everyone!

As we approach the end of the semester, it is time to say goodbye for this blog journey. The Current Issues in Teaching course has been, by far, one of the most thought-provoking, productive, and sometimes—I am not going to lie—frustrating courses. But when I look back, I am very glad I took this course because it made me make better use of technology both in my daily life and teaching experience.

I think the most powerful part of this course was that it really put current teaching approaches into practice. AI-enhanced CBLP, flipped teaching material, AR/VR, and AI-enhanced tasks assure lesson plans... They were all jobs that sounded cool but required effort when put to work. If it had a weakness, it was sometimes the heavy workload. Time management was particularly challenging, especially for assignments with multiple stages :(.

The parts that came easiest of the tasks were usually the creating and thinking parts of the tasks. Designing the worksheets, writing tasks, blog posts' visuals, etc. But the most challenging part was definitely the integration of AI into the tasks we designed for students and also constantly thinking "why" we were doing an event.

My favorite assignment by far was creating the flipped teaching material because it was a whole new experience for me, and even though the creating the video part was difficult, dubbing the video part was very fun and integrating for me. My least favorite was some of the lesson plan details, as I was very unfamiliar with the concept, but as the time went by, I got used to it.

To students who will take this course, I can say this: It is completely normal to struggle at first. But if you trust the process, you will notice that your perspective on teaching has changed by the end of the term.

This course taught me not only new tools but also how to become a more conscious teacher who is using technology in her future language classroom. And I think this is the most valuable aspect for professional development.

Take care, everyone; maybe not in the next blog, but see you next semester!
